Waterman Crusader Taperite Set, Mint and Boxed
Classic vintage fountain pen and mechanical pencil set, c. 1949. Short-lived "Taperite" model with hooded nib, introduced to compete with Parker's 51. This is the less common vest pocket version, pen is a 517V and the pencil a P517V, as indicated by their barrel stickers. Pen is 11.7 cm long closed, nib grade is medium rigid. Original ink sac has hardened and will need to be replaced if the pen is to be used, pencil is fully functional as is. Nib appears to have been dip-tested, some wear to barrel sticker, otherwise as it was when it left the factory 70-odd years ago. Instruction sheet has a 1947 copyright date.
