    *Up for sale here is an earlier hutchinson soda from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the very rare sapphire blue color. This example should date into the 1880's era. This hutch is in good shape, but has some overall river pitting from being in the water for so many years. There are also a few minor lip chips. These favor the left side. Bottle has no cracks, and the color is quite rich. Displays nicely as it is. Please see all of the pictures.
    *It reads on the bottle open face ~ "J.C. BUFFUM & Co. / Trade Mark Registered / (weights and scale motif in a keystone frame) / CITY BOTTLING / HOUSE / PITTSBURGH, Pa." All of the lettering has been painted white long ago for better display. This can be easily taken off with acetone. On the base it has the "J.C.B." initials embossed for this bottler. Then on the reverse it is embossed ~ "This Bottle / Must Be Returned". There are no glass house initials on the bottle.
    This Allegheny County example measures 6 5/8 inches tall, and 2 3/8 inches in diameter. You will be pleased with this vintage piece of soda pop bottling history, from southwestern Pennsylvania.
