In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan addressed allegations against the previous government led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and shed light on the controversial power deal with the Adani Group. Kalyan stated that these issues would be a key point of discussion in the upcoming state cabinet meeting with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
“We are thoroughly examining the allegations against Jagan’s administration. These matters will be discussed with Chief Minister Naidu in the next cabinet meeting,” Kalyan confirmed. He emphasised that the government is committed to transparency and accountability in addressing past controversies.
On the power deal between the Adani Group and the state, Kalyan stated that the terms and conditions would be reviewed to ensure the deal benefits Andhra Pradesh’s citizens. “We will look into the power deal with the Adani Group. Every aspect of this agreement will be scrutinised carefully,” he said.
Kalyan also weighed in on the recent indictment of the Adani Group in a US court, expressing skepticism about the timing of the development. “The timing of the US court indictment needs to be looked at,” he remarked, pointing to Adani’s recent move to impose a deadline on Bangladesh to pay their electricity bills. “Adani gave a deadline to Bangladesh to pay their power bills which was about Rs 8,000 crore, and now this indictment has happened.”
The Deputy Chief Minister drew parallels between the current situation and the controversy triggered by the Hindenburg Research report earlier this year, which accused the Adani Group of stock manipulation. “We saw the Hindenburg conspiracy also fall flat. This too requires careful analysis before jumping to conclusions,” Kalyan said.
